We began with a think-pair-share in response to the question, "What does it mean to be healthy?" I was very impressed with the variety and depth of responses. Some of the responses were:
- being able to fight of diseases easily
- getting a good night's sleep
- not overweight
- not eating at McDonald's
- having a well-working body
- not being mentally ill
- not bleeding
- exercises consistently
After sharing ideas, students placed their idea into the following categories: sleep, nutrition, physical/exercise, mental/emotional.
In this course, each student will independently research one of these aspects of health. I have presentation boards for each student, some paint, glitter, and pens. Please note: I do not allow students to use Wikipedia as a source.
We each completed an inventory about stressors in our lives, and discussed how these stressors make us feel.
We watched two Ted Talks today. I hope you find time to watch them as well.
